The Challenge

• A pharmaceutical facility in Ireland had extensive refrigerant gas leaks from its existing process cooling Chiller.
• The client made the decision, to rent in a long-term chiller to deliver the process cooling requirements of the facility.
• Cross Hire was contacted to see if we could deliver a long-term rental solution with a specific requirement of a Low GWP Refrigerant.
• As an urgent job with time restrictions, the chiller needed to be delivered in a short time frame and have the lowest possible GWP footprint.

The Solution

• Cross Hire was awarded an initial 12+ month contract for a 600kw air-cooled Chiller as it had the lowest GWP of all hire solutions tendered.
• We also had immediate availability and the shortest lead time.
• The Chiller required lifting and positioning in place under dedicated supervision of a PSCS.
• Upon site arrival our Sales engineer carried out risk and method assessments; to ensure safety and equipment suitability before starting installation – this meant that the commissioning could run smoothly restoring cooling to the site as quickly as possible.

The Outcome

• Our fast turnaround service allowed us to restore cooling to the production process ASAP – this rapid assessment, delivery and installation enabled the client to have minimal downtime.
• This is now one of many clients we have on multi-year contracts for Long Term chiller rental.

Some of the benefits of long-term Chiller rental:
The Client Benefits from a fixed-cost solution with no nasty surprises, as all service, maintenance and repairs are covered by the rental agreement.

The client also has the flexibility to add or subtract cooling depending on the future manufacturing demands of their business. Unlike a chiller purchase, they are not fixed to a chiller capacity size that may not meet the future capacity of their business.

Finally, the client did not have to break their capex budget with the unplanned purchase of a new chiller. All costs were made from their opex budget with all the flexibility that rental solutions offer.
