Built In-house
Containerised boiler plant rooms designed and fabricated in-house for temporary heating and hot water projects.
Cross Rental Services designs and fabricates packaged boiler plant rooms at our Andover and London facilities. We build standard and bespoke containerised units using boiler equipment supplied by manufacturers including Hamworthy and Ferroli, configured around the heating duty, existing connections and available space.
Our range includes compact, trailerised and condensing boiler solutions alongside larger containerised plant rooms up to 2MW. Modular configurations can support higher-capacity projects. From planned refurbishment to temporary energy centres, our engineers can help specify a complete solution for heating and hot water.

Our Capabilities
Our engineers design and fabricate packaged boiler plant rooms using components from established suppliers, including Ferroli and Hamworthy boilers, Riello burners, Grundfos pumps and Sondex heat exchangers. Supplier relationships also help us access parts and spares for servicing and repairs.
Plant rooms can incorporate heat exchangers, pumps, dual circuits, pressurisation units and associated pipework. This allows us to tailor a complete heating and hot water package to the project rather than simply deliver a boiler.
Our fabrication facilities in Andover and London support both established designs and project-specific builds. ISO 9001 quality management provides an additional framework for our processes.
Bespoke Builds
Where standard packaged plant will not fit, we can develop small-footprint or trailerised solutions around access restrictions, plant layout and existing connections. Bespoke condensing boiler packages recover heat that conventional boilers would otherwise lose through the flue, helping reduce fuel consumption and CO₂ emissions. Low-NOx configurations can also help limit nitrogen oxide emissions.
Flue extensions and dilution systems can be incorporated where site conditions require them, subject to the installation design and applicable requirements. Gas, oil and dual-fuel burner options provide flexibility according to available services and project needs.
A bespoke build generally takes around 12 weeks, depending on the specification and site requirements. Our engineers can advise on available fleet equipment and project timescales.

Why CRS
From in-house design and fabrication to installation and ongoing support, we bring together the engineering expertise, specialist equipment and technical resources needed to deliver boiler plant solutions built around your site.
We design and fabricate standard and bespoke containerised boiler plant rooms at our Andover and London facilities. Standard 10ft and 20ft formats sit alongside low-footprint and bespoke builds. The range includes 100kW, 300kW, 500kW, 600kW, 1.2MW and 2MW boiler options, with modular configurations for larger heating duties.
Our engineers configure each solution around the heating duty, available space and existing site connections. Bespoke builds typically take around 12 weeks, depending on the specification and site requirements.

Packaged boiler plant rooms can be configured for heating, hot water or dual-circuit applications. Dual-circuit configurations allow heating and domestic hot water requirements to be served within the same plant room.
Plate heat exchangers and domestic hot water plate packs allow separation of circuits and integration with existing services, and can be incorporated alongside pumps, controls and other ancillary equipment to suit the project. This means a single temporary plant installation can support heating and hot water requirements during refurbishment or replacement works.

Plant rooms can incorporate heat exchangers, pumps, pressurisation units, low-loss headers, manifolds, buffer vessels, frost protection, controls and associated pipework. Hamworthy has supported the development of our high-efficiency condensing and small-footprint boiler solutions, while Ferroli Prextherm RSW boilers are also used within our plant builds.
Our supplier relationships extend to Riello gas, oil and dual-fuel burners, Grundfos pumps, Siemens pressurisation units, Sondex heat exchangers and Grasslin frost stats. This gives our engineers flexibility when specifying a plant room and access to replacement components and spares for servicing and repairs.
Our team of fully qualified engineers is highly experienced and holds the necessary certifications, including Gas Safe registration for gas installations and OFTEC accreditation for oil systems. This guarantees expert service and adherence to all relevant safety and industry standards.

Compact, slimline and trailerised boiler solutions can be developed for locations where standard containerised plant rooms cannot be accommodated.
Bespoke low-NOx condensing boiler packages can also be incorporated into small-footprint designs. Condensing technology use additional heat exchange to recover heat from flue gases that would otherwise be lost, improving efficiency and potentially reducing fuel consumption, running costs and associated CO₂ emissions. Performance depends on operating conditions, particularly return-water temperature.

Our Riello burner plant rooms can be configured for gas, oil and dual-fuel options, depending on the equipment and available services. Gas-fired installations can connect to existing mains supplies, while oil-fired systems can be supported by independent fuel tanks.
Flue extensions and dilution systems can be incorporated to manage the discharge and dispersion of combustion products.
Our engineers assess site conditions and specify appropriate flue arrangements with consideration for the Clean Air Act, applicable environmental requirements and relevant emissions standards. Final compliance depends on the equipment, fuel, installation design and site conditions.

Our engineering support extends from plant room specification and fabrication through to delivery, installation, commissioning and integration with existing systems. Planned maintenance, technical support, replacement parts and 24/7 emergency assistance help keep temporary heating and hot water systems operational throughout the hire period.
Gas Safe registered engineers support gas installations, with OFTEC-accredited expertise for oil-fired systems.
Servicing and maintenance are included for hired plant, with optional remote telemetry available for suitable hire equipment.

What our clients say
“CRS delivered a complex multi-site refrigeration rollout on time and within budget. Their engineers were professional throughout and the aftercare support has been excellent.”

James Whitfield
Facilities Manager, Whitfield Retail Group
“When our chiller failed on a Friday evening CRS had a temporary unit running before the weekend was out. That kind of response is why we keep coming back.”

Operations Director, Northside Food Group
Got a question?
We design and fabricate the packaged plant rooms at our Andover and London facilities. The boiler bodies are supplied by manufacturers including Hamworthy and Ferroli, then integrated with the burners, pipework, controls and other equipment required for the project.
Yes. Packaged plant rooms can include dual circuits, plate heat exchangers and domestic hot water plate packs to support heating and hot water from a single installation.
The original range includes 100kW, 300kW, 500kW, 600kW, 1.2MW and 2MW containerised boiler options in 10ft, 20ft and low-footprint formats. Modular configurations can support larger duties, with the final selection based on the site.
Yes. Small-footprint, slimline and trailerised boiler units can be considered where a standard containerised installation is unsuitable. Bespoke flue arrangements and connections can also be assessed.
Condensing boilers recover additional heat from flue gases through a heat exchanger. This can improve efficiency and reduce fuel consumption, running costs and CO₂ emissions compared with conventional designs. Low-NOx configurations can also reduce nitrogen oxide emissions.
Yes. Plant rooms can incorporate system pumps, plate heat exchangers, pressurisation units, manifolds, low-loss headers, buffer vessels, controls and associated pipework to suit the application.
Yes. We can supply bunded fuel tanks and arrange fuel replenishment for oil-fired boiler installations. Remote fuel monitoring can also be provided to help track fuel levels and coordinate top-ups, reducing the risk of an interruption to heating or hot water.
Yes. Remote telemetry is available as an optional service on suitable hire equipment. It can monitor operating conditions, including temperatures, power and fault status, with alerts to help our engineers identify issues and respond before they affect heating or hot water provision.
Around 12 weeks is a general guide. The programme depends on the specification, component availability and site requirements. Existing fleet units may be suitable where the timescale is shorter.
