Dry Air Coolers

Dry air coolers or air blast coolers provide efficient temporary process cooling for commercial and industrial applications. They remove heat from water or glycol circuits using ambient air. Available from 250kw to 1MW, units can operate independently or alongside an existing chiller system.

Multiple units can be configured in parallel for larger multi-megawatt temporary cooling duties, with pumps, pipework and ancillary equipment specified to suit your application.

Available in flat and V configurations, our engineers can support you from system specification through to installation and servicing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to the questions we hear most often. If yours is not here, get in touch and we will be happy to help.

What is a dry air cooler?

A dry air cooler, also known as an air blast cooler, removes heat from a water or glycol circuit using ambient air. It provides an efficient temporary cooling solution for commercial, industrial and process-cooling applications, supporting temperature control.

What is a dry air cooler used for?

Dry air coolers are used for temporary or long-term process cooling, including planned maintenance, emergency cooling, additional capacity and applications where cooling is required without installing a permanent system.

Can dry air coolers operate in all ambient temperatures?

Dry air cooler performance depends on ambient air temperature and the required water or glycol temperature. Our engineers assess site conditions and cooling requirements to determine whether standalone dry cooling or a chiller-assisted system is more suitable.

Can dry air coolers work with chillers?

Yes. They can operate as standalone cooling system or alongside a chiller to provide additional or temporary cooling capacity.

What size dry air coolers are available for hire?

Available units range from 250kW to 1MW. Multiple units can also be operated in parallel to provide multi-megawatt cooling capacity.

What is the difference between a flat and V-configuration dry air cooler?

Both configurations use ambient air to remove heat from a water or glycol circuit. V-configuration can provide a high cooling capacity within a relatively small footprint. Suitable options depend on the available site space, airflow requirements and required cooling duty.

Can you help specify and install a dry air cooler hire system?

Yes. Our engineers can support the process from initial project specification through to equipment selection, installation and servicing. Pumps, pipework and other ancillary equipment can also be included where required.
